Open Studio Key must be returned 30 minutes before closing; no exceptions. If the key is not returned, Open Studio registrant will incur a rekeying fee for the Hudson Center for the Visual Arts Building.
Open Studio participants must be 18, have previous ceramics experience and be approved by the Visual Arts Director.
Clay Open Studio September 2026: This class is an opportunity to work independently on your ceramic projects - there is no teaching artist present during Open Studio Hours. This "class" is a great opportunity to focus on the techniques you have acquired. Clay Open Studio is only for those who are familiar with the ceramic process, who don't need hands-on instruction, and who feel confident working independently.
Please note Open Studio registrations are for one month. If you cannot complete your work in one month, you will need to sign up for another month.
Open Studio Registrants are responsible for cleaning all areas used.
Fee includes studio time and glazes.
Firing Fees:
Electric Bisque Firing & Electric Glaze Firing - $3.00 per pound - this fee has been updated
* The Ceramic Specialist reserves the right to hold pieces for firing for any reason.
Once your pieces are dry, the ceramics special will weigh your work and create an invoice.
Arts Place staff will call/email you the invoice amount.
This amount must be paid in advance of your firing. Once paid, Arts Place staff will call/email with your fire date.
Firing Dates will be posted in the studio and emails will be sent to Open Studio registrants.
Students can purchase a 25 lb. bag of clay at the Performing Arts building reception desk. NO OUTSIDE CLAY. Students can work in the studio any time there is not a class during operating hours.
Arts Place offers Fire for Hire. Fire for Hire is an electric kiln firing of only your work. If you are interested in Fire for Hire please fill out the contact information listed in the Fire for Hire Event.

Registration is NON-TRANSFERABLE
Please clean the wheel and ALL surrounding areas after use including the sinks.
Never handle work that does not belong to you.
All Arts Place owned equipment is to remain in the studio and should not be taken home.
You are welcome to use your own tools/equipment, but do NOT leave them in the studio. Arts Place is not responsible for tools/equipment left in the studio.
Smoking and the consumption of alcohol or food is not allowed in the studio for safety purposes. There is a lobby area outside of the studio for this purpose.
If an injury occurs in the studio, an incident report needs to be filled out immediately.
As the parent or legal guardian of the participant, or the participant if older than 18, I understand, accept, and voluntarily incur all risks of any injuries, damages, or harm which may arise during or resulting from my participation in the activities, regardless of whether caused in whole or in part by the negligence or other fault of Arts Place, Inc.
